Hace cosa de unos meses descubrimos gracias a las redes sociales el increíble trabajo de Amazing Jiro, un artista japonés especializado en maquillaje de todo tipo ( pero con un estilo muy definido ). Hace unos días pudimos realizar está pequeña entrevista.
Queremos dar las gracias a Jina-San por su tiempo (ありがとう) y por hacer posible esta entrevista.
- ¿ Cual fue tu primera experiencia / trabajo en el mundo del maquillaje ? / What was your first experience/work in the makeup world?
Fue en un show de peluqueria en el que había una audiencia de 2000 personas, un salón de peluquería me pedía hacer un maquillaje de efectos especiales. El show tubo mucho éxito y la emoción y la experiencia que tuve en ese momento me dio una gran influencia para continuar mis actividades. / It was a hair show where 2,000 audiences were in the hall. I was requested by a hair salon to do Special Effects Makeup. The show was a big success and the excitement/experience I had at that time gave me a great influence on my activities afterward.
- Conocemos tu trabajo gracias a Internet :) ¿ Para aquellos que no conozcan tus trabajos, como presentarias lo que haces ? / I saw your work at first over the internet :) Could you tell something more about you to all the people who didn't have the pleassure of watching your work?
Después de graduarme en la Universidad de Artes de Tokyo estudié maquillaje de efectos especiales y luego establecí mi compañía, ya han pasado 19 años.
Llevo en Instagram 6 años, y también empece la pintura facial, corporal y el maquillaje de belleza de forma autodidacta.
Trato de utilizar todas las técnicas que aprendí para crear nuevas obras de arte. / After graduating from the Tokyo University of the Arts, I studied Special Effects Makeup and then established my company, which has been 19 years now.
At the same time as I started Instagram 6 years ago, I also started self-taught face paint, body paint, and beauty makeup.
I'm making use of all the techniques I learned to create new artwork.
⁃ Tienes un estilo propio, un poco oscuro pero muy emocional. ¿ Cuando la gente contacta contigo para un trabajo, crees que buscan tu técnica o tu estilo ? / You have a very own style, kinda creepy but very emotional. When people contact you for a job, do you think they are looking for your perfect technique or for your style?
Tengo ambos casos. Mis estilos son todos obras de arte que necesitan tener un respaldo de tecnica o seria muy dificil de expresar todo bien. Personalmente, soy más feliz creando algo nuevo que solo realizando algo con técnica. / I have both cases. My styles are all artwork creation that needs to have backing techniques or it would be difficult to express. Personally, I'm happier if I'm reached out for the new style rather than techniques.
- Has trabajado como director creativo en la industria del Cine, en teatro, en tv ... ¿ Tienes un favorito ? / You have worked as creative director in the film industry, teathers, tv ... Wich one is your favourite?
Tengo una personalidad en la que no me limito a una cosa, por eso al hacer todo, siento que mantengo mi equilibrio. Por lo tanto, todo en mi trabajo es mi favorito. / I have a personality where I don't stick to one thing, so by doing everything, I feel like I'm maintaining my balance. Therefore, all of my work is my favorite.
- ¿ Cuales son tus principales fuentes de inspiration para crear ? ¿ Empiezas dibujando una idea primero ? ¿ te dejas ir sobre la marcha ? / What are your main sources of inspiration when you are creating? Do you sketch your idea at first? Or you just let it go?
Siempre estoy buscando nuevas ideas y estilos, independientemente de los generos estoy interesado en muchas tecnicas y expresiones de todo tipo y eso se esta convirtiendo en mi fuente de inspiración. Solía dibujar diseños, pero no durante demasiado tiempo. Creo que las ideas que nacen mientras dibujo también son importantes y me gustan. / I'm always seeking new ideas and styles, so regardless of genres, I'm interested in many different techniques and expressions and that is becoming my source of inspiration. I used to draw designs, but not much these days. I think the ideas that are born while I'm drawing are also important and I'm enjoying that.
⁃ Debido a las redes sociales, la industria del maquillaje está experimentando un gran auge. ¿ Crees que es algo bueno ? ¿ O tal vez hay demasiados maquilladores que luchan por conseguir un lugar en el podio ? / Due to social networks, the makeup industry is experiencing a great boom. Do you think it is a good thing? Or maybe there are too many makeup artists fighting to get a place on the podium?
Creo que es algo muy bueno. Estoy inspirado en diversas técnicas y expresiones y creo que mis posibilidades también se están expandiendo. Dentro de las redes sociales, me gusta crear cosas que solo yo puedo crear. / I think it is a very good thing. I'm inspired by various techniques and expressions and I think my possibilities are expanding too. Within social networks, I'm enjoying creating things that only I can create.
- ¿ Te gusta el mundo de la fotografía ? ¿ Cuando creas un maquillaje, tomas las fotografías tu, o pides a un fotógrafo que haga este trabajo ? / Do you like the world of photography ? When you do a makeup, do you take the photos by yourself, or by the way you ask for a professional photographer to do that job?
Me gusta la fotografía. Las fotografías son muy importantes cuando se trata de crear una obra de arte. No tomo las fotos por mi cuenta, en lugar de ello pido a algún fotógrafo profesional que las haga, discutimos y hablamos juntos sobre la iluminación, el fondo, las poses. / I like photography. Photography is very important when it comes to artwork creation. I don't take photos by myself and rather than asking the professional photographer to do the job, I discuss and decide together about lighting, background, and posing with the professional photographer.
- ¿ Cuanto tiempo sueles dedicar a un maquillaje, por ejemplo, un maquillaje facial ? / How long does it take to do a makeup, for example, a face art?
Para el arte facial, alrededor de 2 a 5 horas, dependiendo de los detalles del maquillaje. / For the face art, it takes about 2 hours to 5 hours depending on the makeup details.
⁃ En tus trabajos usas pinceles, aerógrafo .... ¿ tiene algún favorito ? / In your works you use brushes , airbrush... Wich one is your favorite ?
Me gusta la precision que proporcionan los pinceles, así que tengo muchos delgados y finos. / I like the precise depiction using brushes, so I have many thin and fine brushes.
⁃ Cuando creas una pieza, ¿piensas primero el maquillaje ? ... ¿ O piensas en los accesorios, las luces ...? ¿ Creas también la escena ? / When you create a piece, you think in the makeup first?...Or do you take care of things like the props, the lightning... I mean the whole scenography?
Primero pienso en el maquillaje. Entonces pienso en todo lo necesario para crear la escena. / I think of makeup first. Then I think about the necessary scenes afterward.
⁃ Recientemente has abierto una exposición de arte. ¿ Que nos puedes contar sobre ella ? / You recently opened an art exhibition, what you can tell us about it.
Realizo una exposición una vez al año. Recientemente, hice una exposición sobre Zombies bonitos para la temporada de Halloween. / I do an exhibition once a year. Recently, I had an exhibition of beautiful zombie artwork around the Halloween season.
⁃ Tienes una academia donde enseñas. ¿ Pides a tus alumnos algún conocimiento inicial ? / You have an academy where you teach courses, I think. Do you ask your students for some initial knowledge?
Los estudiantes no tienes que tener conocimientos iniciales. Intento explicar lo básico en la escuela. / I don't require students for some initial knowledge. I try to teach from the basics at the school.
- ¿ Que persona/as causaron mayor impacto en tu carrera ? / What person/s, caused more impact in your career?
En lo referente a efectos especiales, las técnicas que aprendi de Kazu Hiro que ganó el premio Academy Award en Hollywood, el fue una gran influencia para mi y para mi carrera. / For Special Effects Makeup, the techniques I learned from KAZU HIRO who won the Academy Award in Hollywood had a great influence on me and my career.

En este preciso momento, mi meta es tener éxito en la casa encantada, esta producida por mi y sale el año que viene. / As for now, my goal is to succeed in the haunted house, which is produced by me and coming out next year.
